In 2016, in order to earn money, Aldosov Kamborali, 22, went to collect coal near the radioactive storage sites in the city.
Once back in Russia, where he worked intermittently, he began to bleed from gums and nose. After six months, he was hospitalized in Bishkek hospital, capital of Kyrgyzstan, where he was diagnosed with acute leukemia. He returned to Mailuu-Suu, where he died 17 days later.
« My son was aware of the dangers, » says his father, « it is usual here to extract charcoal but his body was not strong enough to withstand radiation. »
Forty years ago, his grandfather worked in the uranium mines as a director.
